Recipe: Soft, Thick Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Okay, peeps.  These are the real deal.  I found this old recipe when I was 10 years old in my mothers recipe drawer and perfected it throughout the years.  It was hand written on a little piece of paper and the recipe was soon known to my family & friends as “Mal’s Chocolate Chip Cookies”.

These little pieces of heaven are soft and they stay thick!  The taste is different than any other generic recipe I have ever tasted and they are a hit in my home, at events & I am always asked to make them for fundraisers!

The best part is that these cookies require very simple ingredients and straight forward instructions.  This is why they are so easy to make with kids! And go ahead and use whatever brand you have in your fridge/cupboard at the time!  That’s what I do and they are still perfect every GD time!  It’s like magic!

I’m going to be completely honest and put it right out there that there will be no step by step PHOTO instructions.  I have found tons of amazing recipes on blogs but not once have I stopped to look at the instruction pictures.  I just scrolled on through until it got me to the gold (aka the actual ingredient list)!

Let’s get this started!

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

Ingredients you will need are as follows:

  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/4 c white sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c flour
  • 1 c chocolate chips

Simple Instructions:

In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, white sugar & margarine. Add vanilla & egg and mix again.  Add salt, soda & flour.  Once all ingredients are mixed, fold in chocolate chips.

Take your spoon that you used for mixing and drop your cookie dough (a nice size spoon full) on the pan (use tin foil or parchment paper to cover your pan to avoid sticking).  Leave about an inch between cookies. This recipe makes about 20 medium size cookies.

Set your timer for 12 minutes. Put those babies in the oven and get that cold glass of milk ready!CrDLleaWYAEKSk7

I can smell them already!  Happy baking!!
